Breast Cancer Reconstructive Program
The South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery, with locations in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, is committed to helping breast cancer victims who could benefit from reconstructive surgery, but lack the financial resources required. This unique pro-bono program is a four way partnership between The American Cancer Society, The South Florida Center, our surgeons, and Mentor Corporation. Mentor, provides the required implants at no cost, our surgeons perform the surgery at no cost, and the Center provides the Operating Room space, anesthesia, supplies and follow up care at no cost. The American Cancer Society works with the providers to identify potential applicants for this program.
Woman who are interested in participating in this program can apply through the American Cancer Society, or may apply on line. On-line applications are confidential and will result in a follow-up call from one of our consultants. After we have had a chance to review your circumstances and determine if you potentially qualify for our program you will be scheduled to visit with one of our surgeons so that final approval for your candidacy may be confirmed.
The major factors determining candidacy for the program include an evaluation of the individuals' risk factors, their ability to tolerate additional surgery, and the requirement that all surgery must be completed in our center. This is a completely free program with absolutely no cost to the patient. It is offered to financially challenged woman as a community service.
